Flower Garden Lunch for Kids

I thought I'd try my hand at something a bit fancier than I have been doing. A flower, with grass, butterflies, and smaller flowers. What do you think? :)

Picky Eater's big flower is an egg salad sandwich. The white center is a small round bit of fondant. The grass is made from strips of unpeeled cucumber. The flowers and butterflies are cucumbers and apples. There are green peas underneath it all. The grapes & orange are meant to resemble a sun. And lastly, there are two homemade coconut macaroons and a few grapes thrown in so they stay still. She's taking milk to drink.

Bayberry's lunch is only a bit fancy. I needed to add more calories to her lunch. She has pasta salad, and lots of extra fruit and veggies. She's taking milk to drink, too.

  1. Very pretty...and tasty looking too! I'm looking forward to using our new bento boxes for lunches this year. I packed them for the first time this evening. I'm hoping to stay away from the sandwich everyday rut that I usually get into.

This blog has given me lots and lots of ideas!

  2. Love them! They turned out so pretty. I need to work on making mine 'prettier'.

  3. I like these surreal, 'scenic' bento lunches. :)

  4. Hi, just found your blog! What a great idea! Became a follower. Ideas on where to get Bento boxes? I don't live in a metropolitan area. Any online (reasonably priced) ideas. This is going to be fun to see what you come up with. Even my 16 year old likes home lunches better than school lunches and my 9 year old would love this...not so sure about my 14. Joni

  5. Hi Joni! I'm pretty new to it, too. I bought most of my stuff at You can buy Laptop Lunches and Easy LunchBoxes online, too. I love online shopping. :) Welcome and thanks for following!

  6. Awesomr! Very Pretty! I need to work on making ours prettier!
